Be Courageous Today!
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or dismayed before the king of Assyria and all the horde that is with him, for there are more with us than with him,” (2 Chronicles 32:7 ESV).
In chapter 32 of 2 Chronicles, the king of Assyria invades Judah with the intention of destroying the land. King Hezekiah had done all he could to prepare his military but most importantly, he put all of his trust in God. As the battle gets closer, he reminds his people to “be strong and courageous.”
Be Courageous
In His sermon on the mount, Jesus says in Matthew 5:14-16 that “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light so shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.”
As lights in this dark world, dying world, we must hold the light of God’s word and Salvation. This takes courage. How do we become courageous?
Reflect on those in the Bible who had courage.
Listen to the word of God.
Do not be afraid to let your light shine.
Have love for all those who are lost.
No matter what, always sing praises to God even if people refuse to listen.
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord,” (1 Corinthians 15:57-58).
