Your Calling
“Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,” (Romans 1:1).
When one begins reading a new book, many will skip over the prologue or writing of who the book is dedicated to. Similarly, when it comes to Paul’s epistles in the New Testament, many don’t spend much time focusing on his greetings. However, in His greetings to the Romans, there is something that flies of the page to the reader.
“Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God.”
There are several things in life, much like this writing, that make an individual reflect on themselves. Like Paul, we are also set apart for God. Peter writes that “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence,” (2 Peter 1:3).
It is a wonderful thing when one recognizes the calling that they truly have in life, which is to serve God. All made possible by the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
“Which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy scriptures, concerning His Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by His resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of His name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ,” (Romans 1:2-6).
