Spending Time With God
“The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season. You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His works. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him; He also hears their cry and saves them. The Lord preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy. My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, and let all flesh bless His holy name forever and ever” (Psalm 145:14-21).
We have all experienced it. Those hard days. The days in which you wish you could forget. Many times, we get put in stressful positions and we only look to ourselves for an answer. However, there is one who is much higher than we could ever be that we should be looking to during our troubles.
In his letter to the church in Philippi, Paul writes, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God,” (Philippians 4:4-6). Peter, likewise, writes to his readers to “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.”
When you take a moment to look at your life and notice all the good things. Whenever you truly take a moment to count your blessings. You will begin to see all the things that God has done in your life. Further, not only in your personal life, but also look at the miracles that God has performed. From the creation, to the great flood, to the parting of the Red Sea, the birth of Jesus, the resurrection of Jesus, and everything that has ever happened. Any enjoyment that you have ever had in your life is a result of the work that God has done for you.
Unfortunately, many are not quick to turn to God for their struggles. However, if God was able to create the earth, cause a great flood, and perform all the miracles that have been done throughout all of time, can He not take care of your problems.
Take time this week to recognize the power of God in your life and spend time each day talking with Him.
