Follow The Leading of Jesus

“Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, ‘I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?’ But Jesus answered him, ‘Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness,” (Matthew 3:13-15).

Jesus Christ is nothing short of amazing. Jesus left His home in Heaven above to come to a sinful and lost world, lived a life free of sin to bear the weight of the world on a cross and be humiliated and tortured on our behalf. But yet, many people still do not listen to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Whether it be on a football field, basketball court, in a marching band, in the military, or in anything you find yourself doing, there is always a need for a leader. A leader is the one who takes charge and has the rest of the group follow them. Often the leader will distribute tasks that need to be done within the group and they are the ones that are looked at in times of trial. There are good and bad leaders. One aspect that is most often a make or break characteristic of a leader is whether they are willing to do everything they command their followers to do.

Fortunately, in everything that Jesus commands His followers to do was something that He too was willing to do. In Matthew chapter three we see this to be true. If you have further Biblical knowledge beyond that of Matthew chapter three, you will know that it was commanded by Jesus to “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned,” (Mark 16:15-16).

Many people have a difficult time accepting that baptism is a necessary step for salvation. However, this is something that is clearly taught numerous times throughout the New Testament scriptures. Where does it begin? It begins in Matthew chapter three with Jesus Himself being baptized by John the Baptist before commanding others to do so.

This may perhaps be one of the best aspects of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is a leader who was always willing to do whatever He commanded His followers to do. While the life of a Christian may be difficult because of persecution from the world, it is made easier because of the amazing leadership of Jesus Christ our Savior.
