Are You Good with Directions?

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Many in the religious world claim to be Christians, but the question is, “Are they?” – (for not all who say they are Christ’s truly follow Him).

Jesus said that He is “The Way,” for He is the only door by which we may access eternal life (Jn. 10:9). There is no other. The way of Christ is the only avenue by which one can come to the Father. It is sobering that Jesus said there are few who will find “the way” (Matt. 7:13-14).

Jesus also said that He is “The Truth.” It is impossible for God to lie (Titus 1:2; Heb. 6:18); and all truth originates with God (Jn. 17:17). We can completely trust Him. Thus, whatever He tells us to do in order to be saved we must do – or we can never come to the Father. For “He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him” (Heb. 5:9). That’s the truth.

Additionally, Jesus said that He is “The Life,” “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 6:23). He did not say, “I am ‘a’ life” – He said, “I am ‘the’ life” (the only life; the genuine article). The clear implication is that all other “ways” is the way of death. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Prov. 14:12; 16:25). That’s the truth.

Friends, the Word of God is like a map: it is the only true means (“way”) to guide us home. We can completely trust it, and if we follow its direction we will find eternal life. That’s the truth. So then, let me ask you: are you good with directions? Let me encourage you to “follow the map.”
